Some people use traditional Aleppo-style soap on their hair, but the result depends heavily on hair type, scalp, water and personal preference.
Why can hair react differently?
Traditional soap is alkaline. Hair and scalp can respond differently to an alkaline cleanser than skin on the body, and some people notice dryness, tangling or a different feel after washing.
How to try it
Work a small amount of lather with water and apply to the scalp and hair if you choose to test it. Rinse thoroughly. Start cautiously rather than assuming it will replace your usual shampoo.
What about conditioner?
Some people find a conventional conditioner or another suitable hair product useful after an alkaline soap, while others prefer not to use soap on their hair at all.
When should you stop?
If your scalp or hair becomes persistently dry, irritated or uncomfortable, stop using the soap and return to a cleanser that suits you.
